DELETE THAT WORD; “THAT’S JUST HOW I
AM”
A lot of business people have lost
clients, they have lost customers, they have lost business relationships, and
they have lost money time and time again, for one reason, and the reason is
that they keep excusing their flaws and their flops with claims and statements
like; that’s just how I am, that’s just my kind of person, that’s me, I am like
that, etc.
that, etc.
You see people at times who defend
their bad attitude, and fight tooth and nail to justify unethical behaviors,
behaviors that impede their progress in life and in business, and you’ll be
surprised. It happens, these are things that I have seen, there are people who
don’t feel any remorse when they disappoint a client or customer, rather,
you’ll see them excuse their shortcomings, and they will explain it away.
For example, a particular business
owner who deals in expensive fabrics had an appointment with a client for 10am,
the client was there 9.56am, but guess what? Our business madam didn’t show up
until a few minutes to 11, of course the client had other things to do and had
left after waiting for over 30 minutes. Some people around told this woman that
the client was not happy that she was kept waiting for that long, and all this
business owner said was; “you people already know me, that’s how I am, if
she’ll wait she will wait, if she can’t wait she should go”, now that is not a
pleasant business attitude, if she keeps up like that, it’s only a matter of
time before all her customers leave.
Someone was supposed to make a
presentation at 10am, he came late and missed his opportunity to get a job or
to get a contract, yet he still defended himself. All he said was; that’s who I
am, I have a problem keeping to time, I usually don’t keep appointments. Funny
thing is that he hasn’t seen this as a problem that needs to be solved, or an
error that needs to be corrected. You need to delete such sentences from your vocabulary.
To take your business to the next
level, you need to sit down and ask yourself questions, search yourself for
habits that you exhibit or display at times that put people off, put clients
off, put customers off, and work on these habits, so they don’t impede your
motion in going to the next level, or be a clog in the wheel of your business
progress.
You will win.

So many people are so used to this, they have no human relations at all, and they will stand their ground that they can't change, that is just me. Omolara, Lagos
